Advanced Drills
Slice-slice-Go 1 v 1 where you underhand feed, then each player plays a slice and then the point goes live. Play to 10, 11, 15 pts
Check Drill- Two players at the net, one baseline player. The feed goes to the baseline player, the net player volleys to opposite net player and then back to the single net player, then volley back to the baseline player. This is requires very advanced players.
Box Drill – 1 v 1; Alleys are good, cross court 4 point game. Cross court forehand point live feed, followed by cross court volley point, followed by cross court baseline backhand, followed by ad court volley point.
Run Forest Run – 1 v 1 (up to 6 players/ 3 per side) Start from singles sidelines feed on the run and opposite player can start running after the feed bounce. The first ball must be cross court, then play out the point. Second ball is a slice feed and a slice approach, play it out.
4-Way drill
Triples- (6 players) Two baseline players, one net player on each side, Feed goes to the same side to the baseline player(net person cannot take the feed). You play 3 points and rotate clockwise. The net player is not allowed to set out of the service box or a penalty is applied (-5 points). Play to 21 points, rotate sides after a team reaches 11 points.
Team singles-(4 total players per court) 2 or 3 players on each side that play two points at a time versus their opposing player keeping track of their score playing regular no-ad games and rotate every two points. Then rotate opponents after every game.
Doubles drill. Feeding side plays one up, one back. Returning side plays 4 ways. Scenario #1: Two back, each player gets a feed, plays out the point. Scenario #2: One up, one back, each player gets 1 feed plays out the point (duece, ad). Scenario #3: Stagger up, stagger player receives feed plays out the point, alternate. Scenario #4: Two up, receives volley or overhead, play out the point, each player receives a feed. It is an 8 ball drill. First side to 5 points wins.
10 Ball short ball drill: One on One. Baseline player moves up to fed short ball, defenders rotate unless the attacker can win ten points in a row. The attacker stays up as long as they keep winning points. Goal is to win 10 points in a row.
X-Drill- Hand feeds to one player starting in the middle hash baseline. Feed: Wide deep, short wide both sides, while recovering to the middle each time. 2 short, 2 deep, FH and BH
Cross – Line pattern. One baseline player hits cross-court the other hits line. Alternative, after the third ball, change directions.
Drills for big groups
Attack and defend- Two teams of equal teams. There are 3, 4 or 5 rounds. Each team elects a defender. The other team rotates players one at a time, keeping track of points won. Both teams must start at the same time. The first team to 7 points, earns 1 team point. Then you elect another defender. The team to reach 4 team points first wins. (or 5, 6, 7)
Touch the fence: 2 x 2, one fed ball full court.
Garlic-dirty feed game, where one team point is given for 3 consecutive points. 1 v 1. The feed must be underhand and behind the baseline and within the doubles sidelines. After 6 consecutive points by a single player, they must rotate out.
4 ball drill: 2 x 2 self feeds, team. Each team loses a ball when they lose a point and must feed the next ball. The team that runs out of balls first loses.
1 – 2 Point tournament. Select equal brackets, each side plays one serve point, if tied at 1 each, spin for serve play 1 point for the elimination win. Single elimination. All losers can start again on the lower court.
One racquet: team based Alternative is that everyone starts with one racquet and you lose your racquet if you lose a point play until the last team has no racquets left.

Footwork Drills
Footwork Gym Drill- Figure 8 station, split squats, single leg jumps, scissors
Zero ball drill. Team lines up, faces instructor with racquet.
Mogul step shadow strokes- Instructor shadow strokes forehand, students split step, then inside drop step, cross over, open stance shadow swing then mogul step and cross over, shuffle back.
Backhand. Instructor shadow strokes backhand. Students inside drop step, move to backhand, open stance swing, mogul step, crossover, shuffle back
Neutral stance drill. Instructor simulates a neutral ball, students step in, swing, pivot, shuffle back. Forehand and backhand.
Footwork and Agility Drills
30 second line touch drill. 3 drills with 30 seconds of rest in between. Record each players # of touches over the 90 seconds total. Post on Instagram for the team.
Sprint drill. Sprint from the fence, touch the net, first one over the baseline is on to the next drill. Repeat until you have two kids head to head.
